Large-scale flood risk assessment under different development strategies: the Luanhe River Basin in China

چکیده

Abstract Increasing resilience to natural hazards and climate change is critical for achieving many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In recent decades, China has experienced rapid economic development became the second-largest economy in world. This expansion led large-scale changes terrestrial (e.g., land use cover changes), aquatic construction of reservoirs artificial wetlands) marine reclamation) environments across country. Together with change, these may significantly influence flood risk and, turn, compromise SDG achievements. The Luanhe River Basin (LRB) one most afforested basins North undergone significant urbanisation since 1950s. However, basin-wide assessment under different scenarios not been considered, although this critically important inform policy-making manage synergies trade-offs between SDGs support long-term sustainable development. Using mainly open data, paper introduces a new framework systematically assessing social scenarios. A series model simulations are performed investigate projected 2030 reflect strategies. results analysed compared baseline simulation based on current conditions. Further investigations also provided consider impact dams reservoirs. potentially provide guidance future strategies maximise minimise various LRB.

Landscape Ecological Risk Responses to Land Use Change in the Luanhe River Basin, China

Land use change has large effects on natural ecosystems, which is considered to be the main factor in eco-environment change. We analyzed the future characters of land use change by the CLUE-S model and explored landscape ecological risk responses to land use change by the landscape ecological risk index method. Using the Luanhe River Basin as a case study, we simulated future land use change f...

Assessment of the Potential Flood Risk in Sarbaz Drainage Basin

Today, due to climate change, natural hazards and how to deal with them are among the most important concerns of researchers in environmental planning and crisis management. The purpose of this study is the assessment of the potential flood risk in Sarbaz drainage basin. For this purpose, the databases including elevation, slope, geological characteristics, soil characteristics, precipitation, ...

Flood Risk and River Basin Management

The aim of this study is to identify the sources of uncertainty that induce the largest uncertainties in the model outcomes and quantify this uncertainty using expert elicitation. Analysis of expert opinions showed that the Qh-relation and the roughness predictor of the main channel cause the largest uncertainties for design water level computations. For effect studies, the floodplain topograph...

Flood Risk and River Basin Management

Recent scenario studies on water management focus on one or two projection years and the effects on the water system and functions. The future is however more complex and dynamic. Therefore, we analyse transient scenarios in order to evaluate the performance of water management strategies. Current available simulation tools are not suitable for this purpose. Therefore, we have developed and use...

Risk analysis and vulnerability assessment in flood protection and river basin management

The water-related disasters are considerably increasing worldwide in the last years. While certain trends are global (like climate change), some actions to contrast these problems have to be taken locally. In any case, the land characteristics should be known and analyzed in order to contrast the hazards and avoid their transformations into damages or disasters when exceptional events occur. Th...
